The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the delay being caused in release of convicts after grant of bail and fixed the matter for hearing on Friday.
Earlier in 2018, a PIL had been filed by a law student, claiming that the release of accused was being delayed unfairly and unreasonably on the pretext of verification, even after the grant of bail.
The student had sought direction, defining time limit in Section 441 of Code of Criminal Procedure for verification of sureties and bonds.
