The Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed bail to a woman accused of different Sections under the Dowry Prohibition Act.
The bench of Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice Aniruddha Bose granted bail to accused Gomti Bai, in view of the general allegation levelled against her and she has to take care of a child.
Joydip Rai, Counsel for the State, opposed the granting of bail on the ground that she can influence the witnesses in the trial proceedings. To which, the Bench raised questions to the State counsel that how can she influence the witnesses.

Prior to approaching the Apex Court, Gomti Bai had preferred a fourth application for grant of bail under section 439 CrPC. However, it was dismissed by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Her second application was already dismissed on merits by the High Court of Madhya Pradesh.
