The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has started investigating the Staff Selection Commission CPO Paper leak case after the Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Vermadirected the Crime branch to investigate the matter, despite not receiving any formal complaint. The paper, conducted on March 20, was leaked on Facebook five hours before the examination was held.

On March 29, the Crime Branch officials contactedNeetu Singh to enquire about the paper leak case. “Today got a call from Crime Branch. Happy to see investigation inti CPO SI paper leak taken up promptly.” Posted Neetu Singh on her FB wall.

Candidates seemed satisfied with the prompt decision of investigation in the case by Delhi Police. “It’s heartening to learn that Delhi police has started investigating the case. The culprits, whosoever they may be, must be brought to book and the commission must ensure that such things like paper leak don’t get repeated to reinstate faith in the commission.” Said Sumit Kumar who had set for the exam on March 20.

“See, preparing for competitive exams where lakhs of students compete for a handful of posts is not a cakewalk. But after months of hard work, you sit for the exam and later come to know that the paper was compromised, what could be more disheartening than that? It’s good that the matter is being looked into.” said another candidate in complaining tone, on condition of anonymity.

The matter had come to light when Neetu Singh, founder of KD Campus, that coaches students for competitive exams, posted one page of the paper on her Facebook timeline five hours before the second shift examination was held at 2 PM on March 20.

After India Legal broke the story on March 21, the Commission cancelled the examination, accepting that the paper was “compromised” and the re-examination would be held on June 5. “The Staff Selection Commission, in order to maintain the integrity and fairness of the selection process, has suo-motu decided to cancel the examination for the Recruitment of Sub-Inspectors in Delhi Police, CAPFs & Asst. Sub-Inspectors in CISF Examination, 2016 held on 20th March, 2016 because one paper of the afternoon session was found to have been compromised. The re-examination for only those candidates who had appeared in the examination in the forenoon and afternoon shifts on 20th March, 2016 will now be held on 5th June, 2016.” Read the notice on SSC website.
