A petition was filed challenging the Bar Council of India Certificate and Place of Practice (Verification) Rules, 2015.
The Rules mandate that all advocates whose names appear on the state rolls maintained by the State Bar Councils will have to get their Certificate of Practice verified within six months from the date of notification of the Rules.
Every Bar Council of respective States will need to take steps in order to complete and submit all the forms by 30th June 2016 and thereafter Bar Council of India will take their respective steps.
With respect to Association Election, if the process is completed within 2 months, then election will take place as per the rules.
Bar Council of India to notify every State Council to complete their respective proceedings by June 30th.
The petition was presented before Justices PC Ghose & Amitava Roy and the matter has been listed for 1st week of July.
And all States have been requested to submit their status reports by then.
