The bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Prafula Pant asked the Commissioner of Income Tax, and actor Amitabh Bachchan to file their written submission in an appeal filed by the tax department against a judgment of the Bombay High Court to levy tax on Bachchan’s earnings as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
The matter will now be heard on April 12.
In 2000, Bachchan made his television debut by hosting the first season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). A second season followed in 2005 and in 2010, Bachchan hosted the fourth season. The sixth season was also hosted by Bachchan, which started in September 2012, and was telecast on Sony TV.
