The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition arguing setting of height limit for Dahi Handi ritual during Janamashtmi to 20 feet, saying that there was no religious significance, and that safety of young children was at stake. The bench of Chief Justice of India, Justice Banumathi, and Justice UU Lalit also said that the court will no longer interfere in the matter. The petitioner(President, Dahi Handi Committee), meanwhile, had argued that fixing the limit would defeat the very purpose of the competition.
