Delhi High Court

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Delhi Government on a plea seeking directions to government to establish the office of the Delhi State Social Security Board (DSSSB) under Section 6(1) of the Unorganized Workers Social Security Act 2008.

The PIL before a Division Bench comprising Justices Rajendra Menon and Anup Jairam Bhambhani, seeks to protect the interest of the innocent unorganized workers whose rights to access welfare schemes of the Government have been compromised.

It is alleged in the PIL that the AAP govt has failed to take heed to the complaints filed by the unorganized workers. Their complaints are rendered with no actions by the labour department for several months. Also, the Delhi Government has not created any welfare schemes for the unorganized workers.

It has been alleged that the Delhi Govt has neither issued any notification nor made any efforts to establish the office of DSSSB as prescribed under the Unorganized Workers Social Security Act 2008, 11th year running.
