The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued notice to Enforcement Directorate (ED) on a bail plea filed by P Chidambaram in INX Media case.
The ED told the Court that it will file its reply within seven days.
Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appearing for Chidambaram objected to the ED’s reply and said why the probe agency needed 7 days’ time to file the reply as “they know the case backwards and they’re fighting us everywhere. They file the same status report every time!”
Singhvi further informed the Court that Chidambaram’s health was deteriorating and he has already lost 5 kgs of weight.
To which the bench said that 2-3 days won’t make a difference.
Singhvi again insisted for early bail saying that “this case is identical to those of CBI one and they have granted the bail so we request you to consider this application keeping in mind that fact”.
Singhvi also added that his client has been in custody since very long and the arrest that has been sought by ED is somewhat ill-intended as they would have applied for it earlier than on the occasion when his client was granted bail by CBI.
The Court adjourned the matter to Nov 4.
