LawSikho ties up with MEPSC for new courses

LawSikho, India’s leading online education company that creates advanced and practical legal courses, has partnered with Management & Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council (MEPSC) to co-create and roll out five new online courses, comprising two diplomas and three certification courses, ranging from Business Law, Employment and Industrial Law, Media and Entertainment Law, Competition Law and Legal Drafting.

Through this collaboration, the one-year diploma in Business Law for in-house counsel provides a detailed learning on legal aspects pertaining to an organisation, while the one-year diploma in Labour, Employment and Industrial Law is targeted towards human resource managers to obtain a broader understanding of policies and regulations. The three-month certificate courses offered include Media and Entertainment Law, Competition Law-Practice and Enforcement and Legal Drafting-Contracts and Petitions.

All the diploma and certificate courses will be offered online and students can access the basic study material through an online learning management system 24×7, available both on Android and iOS applications. In order to assist working professionals, the classes for these courses have been scheduled after regular working hours or on Sunday afternoons.

Top law firms queued up to recruit from NLU Jodhpur

Top-pay law firms, including from across the globe, proved to be the heaviest recruiters from the National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur, which has released its batch of 2020 job placement figures for the 60 students who directly participated in the Recruitment and Internship Coordination Committee (RICC) activities.

With a total of 36 job offers, 35 were secured on Day Zero early recruitments with eight law firms held on April 2, 2019. The numbers are in a similar and consistent range to previous years’ campus recruitments at NLU Jodhpur. The highest paying tally was led by L&L Partners and Trilegal, each picking up eight NLU Jodhpur 2020 graduates.

Around half of each of these hirings had taken place via pre-placement offers (PPOs). Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and AZB & Partners hired six and four students respectively. Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas made a total of seven accepted job offers while Khaitan & Co hired six. Fifteen other job offers were accepted at domestic firms.

Forbes lists Amity, Jaipur among top law schools in India

Forbes Legal Powerlist has ranked the law school at Amity University, Jaipur in the list of top law schools in India. The school competed with some of the best law schools to earn this listing. Forbes Legal Powerlist is considered one of the most coveted academic power lists.

The jury bench comprised a former judge of the Supreme Court and Singapore International Commercial Court, Justice AK Sikri; former judge of Fiji Supreme Court, Justice MB Lokur; Vice-Chancellor of NLIU, Bhopal, Dr V Vijayakumar; and Vice-Chancellor of  NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad Dr Faizan Mustafa, to name a few.

Amity Law School largely focuses on preparing students for a life in judicial services by conducting competitive entrance drills, preparing students for competitive admissions into Judge Advocate General’s Department of Armed Forces by regularly conducting lectures on preparations for SSB, conducting National Online Legislative Drafting Competition, amongst other law examinations.

The university also gives law aspirants practical training via regular guest lectures and webinars, by and with legal luminaries, including former judges of the Supreme Court of India, senior advocates, eminent academicians, government officials, NCW and corporate legal heads in India and across the globe.
