NGT directs Addl director (forests) to review road projects disturbing tiger corridors in Maharashtra

NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel headed bench on Tuesday (Mar 26) directed Additional Director (Forest) of Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) to review road projects which disturbs the tiger corridors in Maharashtra and submit action taken report.

Earlier, the bench examined the report submitted today and observed measures which had been identified and were not incorporated in the plan so that tiger corridors should remain undisturbed.

“In view of above the report doesn’t meet expectations of the Tribunal. It fails to properly address the human tiger conflicts that happen in the area,” the bench said.

The bench was acting on the plea initiated by it on a news report titled String of new road projects in Maha to cut off tiger corridors raising concern over the new road projects in Maharashtra obstructing the tiger corridors.
