A Delhi court on Friday issued notice to produce former Union Minister P Chidambaram before it on Oct 14 in the INX media case.
The court issued notice on a plea by Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking judicial custody of Chidambaram in the case.
Chidambaram is currently in judicial custody in the CBI case of INX Media. He is lodged in Tihar jail. After 50 days, ED has decided to seek judicial custody.
Earlier, the apex court had sought CBI’s reply on bail plea of Chidambaram in the case and listed the matter for Oct 15.
Chidambaram had moved the apex court after Delhi High Court refused him bail saying that “there is a chance that Chidambaram may influence the witnesses”.
The CBI had arrested former Union Minister and Congress leader on Aug 21 in connection with the case.
Both Chidambaram and his son have been accused of facilitating the Foreign Investment Promotion Board’s (FIPB) approval for INX media, owned by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea who are currently incarcerating in a Mumbai jail in connection with the murder of Sheena Bora.
