NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Monday, was sent to two-day custody of the ED by Special PLMA court on Tuesday. He was also produced again at 3 PM in the ED court where he was questioned further for his alleged role in Maharashtra Sadan Scam. He was taken for a medical check-up before that, around lunch time.
The former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister was arrested Monday evening after more than nine hours of interrogation by the ED in an alleged money laundering case, which is also known as the Maharashtra Sadan Scam. He is in the dock for alleged corruption in contracts awarded for the Maharashtra Sadan or state government guest house in Delhi and other government projects when he held the portfolio of minister, Public Works Department in the NCP-Congress government in Maharashtra from November 2004 to September 2014. .
ED had earlier arrested his nephew and former lawmaker Sameer Bhujbal on February 1 and has also questioned his son, Pankaj.
The agency has filed two cases of alleged money laundering against the senior NCP leader and his son and nephew- one of them is a land grab case and the other the Maharashra Sadan case, in which the Bhujbals and 14 others have been charged-sheeted by the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau.
