SC orders Mallya to declare all assets, banks don’t bite his Rs 4000 cr bait

The consortium of banks led by State Bank of India Thursday rejected the proposal made by liquor baron Vijay Mallya to pay Rs 4000 crore to Public Sector Banks(PSB) as part of settlement of the Rs9000 crore debt he is under.

The consortium’s counsel, senior advocate Shyam Diwan submitted to the Supreme Court that the consortium has rejected this and another offer made by Kingfisher, urging the court to direct Mallya to disclose all his assets, rights and liabilities including the shareholdings in various companies, and that of his wife and children.

The bench of Justices Kurian Joseph and Fali S Nariman asked the Kingfisher counsel when can Mallya present himself in the court, and also the amount he is willing to deposit.

The next date of hearing is April 26.
