Ban on bullock cart races: SC issues notice to Maharashtra Govt

Following the settlement through local ordinances and acts of the jallikattu issue, another issuer relating to bullocks have come up to the Supreme Court, that of bullock cart races.

On Monday (January 29) the bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud heard petition letters and PILs filed (in SLP) against judgments/orders passed by the high courts filed by Pune Zilla Bailgada Sangathana.

This case is filed against High Court of Maharashtra decision banning bullock cart races. The Bombay High Court in its order refused to grant permission to the Maharashtra government to conduct bullock cart races anywhere in the state.

On Monday the court issued notice to respondents, the State of Maharashtra.
