Bombay High Court asks Maha govt to ensure basic facilities to prison inmates

 The Bombay High Court directed Superintendent of Police across Maharashtra to ensure that inmates get all basic facilities in prisons.

The bench of Justice V M Kanade and Justice Mohit Dere Patil gave four weeks to the government to comply with the order.

The court asked Maharashtra government to also renovate the jails that are in the need of it. It has also been asked to improve security in jails by installing security cameras, having more guards etc. it also asked that separate bathrooms must be constructed in Byculla jail.

The bench also asked about children of women inmates who are staying inside the jail, and the facilities the government is providing them.
