Chief Justice of India Dipak Mishra formally met with a section of reporters on Monday (December 11), and enquired what problems court reporters face while covering proceedings.

The CJI heard the several problems that the reporters placed before him and gave some suggestions that could solve those problems.

On a general sense, the CJI gave an interesting example of problem-solving. He said if you had a 3m piece of wood and a 2m wood, and you wanted them to be equal, then there are two ways of achieving this.

“Either you add 2m to the 3m, piece or you cut 2m from the longer piece,” he said. “The better idea would be to add 2m to the shorter piece. That would be the better method.”

This was an informal interaction, and not a formal press conference,. Hence no tricky questions were asked for nor entertained.
