The Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra is striving hard to put an end to all the further uproar that could possibly arise out of the press conference held by four Supreme Court judges— Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Jospeh – on Friday (January 12) in New Delhi.

The CJI, while attending a health camp on Friday, was asked by the media to comment on the January 12 press conference. The CJI refused to comment on the issue.

Earlier, the Supreme Court Registry had refused to number a plea seeking restriction on the media from publishing and airing news related to the press conference. The appeal wanted the court to “Issue appropriate writ/direction to sop the printing/ discussion/politicization/debate on the subject matter of press conference dated 12.01.2018 in the press and media with immediate effect to control further damage to the institution.”

The CJI, in both the circumstances, stopped the possibility of any further controversy on the topic.
