In the huge controversy over the CLAT 2018 exams, in which malfunctioning software and other issues affected many of the 54,464 candidates, the Supreme Court vacation bench of Justices Uday Umesh Lalit and Deepak Gupta on Wednesday (June 13) passed a number of orders on how to assess the complainants.

The court has asked a special committee to create a formula for this and ordered that “…all the process of calculation by the formula submitted will have to be completed by committee by June 15. On June 16, the second list has to be published as in the normal course. If any of those 4,000 students are affected by the change in marks after applying the formula in their respective ranks, it will be reflected in the second list. If any student out of 4,000 is through without applying of the formula, he will be eligible for the seat.

“The amount of Rs 50,000 submitted will be transferred to another institute without any prejudice,” the court said.

The court gave other directions also which will be reflected in the order.
