Coal Scam: Govt of Maharashtra informs Patiala house court that unavailability of papers hampering investigation

The Patiala House Court is hearing a batch of petitions relating to coal scam. On Tuesday (February 23), in one of these petitions CBI Versus Ms Grace Industries Limited Nagpur, the Court was informed by the Senior Public Prosecutor (SPP) that a notice had been issued to Government of Maharashtra on the applications moved on behalf of the defendants and reply has been received from Government of Maharashtra wherein it has been stated that in the absence of proper and complete particulars of the documents required they are not in a position to trace them.

The counsel representing the defendants submitted to the Special Judge, Bharat Parashar that he needed 10-12 days time to furnish proper and complete particulars of the records.

SPP further submitted that one witness who holds the position of Manager, UCO Bank, Nagpur who was summoned has expressed his inability to appear on that date.

The Court in these circumstances on the request of SPP granted the permission to summon the accused again on April 17, 2018.

The matter was posted for tomorrow.
