The Delhi High Court on Monday (May 27) issued notice to Delhi Police, Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board and Delhi government on a petition seeking issuance of directions to take immediate steps for the speedy investigation and conduct of
post-mortem in the FIR cases of unidentified bodies being found.
During the course of proceedings, the bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal Justice C Hari Shankar was informed by the petitioner citing a recent instance in which two unidentified bodies were kept for twelve days before the post-mortem was conducted.
The bench expressing displeasure at the non-performance of post-mortems said to respondents: “What took so long to do post-mortems? If you become serious lot of crime may be reduced.”
The matter was posted for next hearing to May 31, 2018.
