The Delhi High Court, which has taken suo moto cognizance of increasing incidents of violence against doctors in government hospitals, on Thursday (February 1) accepted the risks that doctors take in discharging a public duty and told the counsel for the state how it has become difficult for doctors to do their work.

The Court reminded the counsel the way things are carried out in public hospitals in other countries like America and China.

The Court posted the matter for next hearing to April 27, 2018

Earlier, the Court had asked for status report from the Centre, the Delhi Government, the IMA and the AIIMS Resident Doctors Association. The court had also directed the Centre and the Delhi government to furnish the details of operationalisation of all public hospitals in Delhi as well as the increase in their patient load.
