The Delhi High Court on Monday (December 11) directed Municipal Corporation of Delhi to place before it the sanction plan in regards to the implementation of online programme pertaining to the admissions of children in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota in private schools.

The bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar also directed to the Delhi Government to take note of sanction plan and ensure admissions within 10 days.

The bench was acting on a petition which says that online process of applying for admissions by EWS student has wide gap.

The Court will take up the matter again on January 17, 2018.

During the course of proceedings, the counsel appearing for the Delhi government alleged that the petitioner has filed two pleas. The first one say that online system doesn’t work and figures doesn’t match. In the second, he has filed application to the similar effect in other bench.

The bench referring to a statute said: “You are entitled to get the admission but it doesn’t say in which school. Admission should be done at the commencement of the academic year and on such date when it is specified.”
