The Delhi High Court on Thursday (May 3) directed Department of Education (DoE), Muncipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) to file status report before September 27, 2018 on the non-appointment of 33000 teachers including 2190 Special Educators lying vacant in MCD and DoE for last eight years.
During the course of proceedings, counsel appearing for DSSSB informed the single-judge bench of Justice V Kameshwar Rao that it will complete selection process of 17000 teacher posts under direct recruitment in MCD and DoE by August 31, 2018.
Advocate Ashok Agarwal appearing for the petitioner, Social Jurist argued that despite Delhi High Court Division Bench judgment dated December 20, 2001, the authorities were not at all serious about the education of over 25 lakh students studying in government as well as MCD schools and DSSSB is bound to hold exams before the end of July 2018 in regard to all 17000 vacant teacher posts under direct recruitment.
The matter was listed to next hearing to September 27, 2018.
