Delhi HC’s gambhir decision goes against cricketer Gautam

This one was a full-toss and former international cricketer failed to send it over the ropes. Instead, he sent it to the nearest fielder and had to walk out of the field, a bit mollified.

Gambhir had appealed to the Delhi High Court, saying that a couple of pubs – Ghungroo and Hawalat – in Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area had been using his name in their promos.

Gambhir’s petition sought to restrain DAP & Co. (defendant) from using his name for the business of its eateries and lounges.

However, the owner of the pubs claimed in court that he used the tagline Gautam Gambhir because his name was also Gautam Gambhir.

The court, therefore, dismissed Gambhir’s plea.
