Delhi sealings: SC stays firm, says no second chance will be given

Regarding the Supreme Court monitored sealing of unauthorized structures/buildings now on in Delhi, the counsel for the Central government on Monday (April 9) told the top court bench of Justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta that a special task force has been proposed to be constituted.

The counsel also said that a monitoring committee will look into the important issues like records etc. A meeting was conducted and certain points were suggested.

The court also suggested certain points to be considered. They are:

  1. There should be fire and disaster management.
  2. There should be no depletion of ground water, especially in respect to Delhi.
  3. Life of future generation is very important
  4. Profit making should not be ulterior objective.
  5. Only legal construction is allowed.
  6. No politics, commerce or business.
  7. Interest of the poor have to be kept in mind

The bench said: “You have been making mistakes for 30 years. Let’s stop it now.” The court also said that no second chance will be given.

The matter will be taken up again on Friday.
