The National Green Tribunal (NGT) bench headed by Justice Jawad Rahim on Monday (March 5) imposed cost on NCT Delhi and UPPCB for non compliance of the order of August 29, 2017 and for not even answering the show cause notice which was issued in the last date of hearing.

This is a case that had been filed by Rajiv Narayan, related to the management of hazardous bio-medical waste in the state of Uttar Pradesh, NCT Delhi and Uttarakhand.

Issues of hazardous bio-medical waste, especially from hospitals, have been regularly been disposed off, not taking care to abide by set guidelines in doing so, causing harm to the environment and to social health. This had been brought to the notice of the NGT at which the NGT had served notice.
