The Supreme Court bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Sanjay Kishan Kaul on Wednesday (June 27) added a a third judge, Justice Satyanarayana, to hear and adjudicate on writ petitions directed against an order dated 18.9.2017 of the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly declaring the 18 writ petitioners as disqualified from the membership of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on the ground that they had voluntarily given up the membership of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party.

The third judge became necessary, as two different opinions had been formed by two judges.
