A Ranchi Special CBI court on Monday (March 19) declared RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav guilty in the fourth Dumka Treasure fodder scam case. The 69-year-old Yadav is already serving a prison sentence in a related case (the Deogarh treasury).
The CBI judge, at the same time, acquitted another former Bihar Chief Minster, Jagannath Mishra.
Five of the seven accused in the case were acquitted.
Lalu could not attend court from jail, as he had been admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences after he fell ill at the Birsa Munda Jail in Ranchi on Saturday. Lalu had complained of chest pains.
He is admitted and is under observation at the hospital’s cardiology ward. His condition is said to be stable.
His supporter base was not deterred. Hundreds of his supporters and his Tej Pratap Yadav, along with senior RJD leaders reached the hospital soon after the verdict.
The Dumka scan is of Rs 3.13 withdrawn during Lalu’s tenure as chief minister of Bihar. The judgment in the fourth fodder scam case has been postponed.
