Ganga pollution: NGT tells authorities to file compliance report on various work progress

The National Green Tribunal on Friday (December 1) dealing with the matter related to pollution in Ganga by dumping of sewage waste, plastic waste and biomedical waste directed the Uttarakhand state to take a note with regard to what work has be done with regard to Phase I (Segment A) that is Gomukh to Haridwar.

The Tribunal also directed the state to file a report on the work before the next date of hearing.

The bench comprising of Justices Swatanter Kumar Jawad Rahim, Raghuvendra S Rathore, Bikram Singh Sajwan also asked to file analysis of report from IIT Roorkee.

Besides, the bench also enquired about the status of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and CPPE with respect to Haridwar.

The bench also directed Uttarakhand state to file the compliance report with regard to sewage waste, biomedical and plastic waste especially at Haridwar. It also directed to file report on the demarcation of flood plain zone.

All the reports shall be filed before the Tribunal before the next date of hearing, the bench said.
