The Supreme Court bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud on Tuesday (May 1) heard initial submissions and listed for a later date a case in which a top officer of Himachal Pradesh police and seven other policemen were arrested for the custody death of a man accused of the rape and murder of a schoolgirl in July.
The rape and murder in Kothkai, 55 km from capital Shimla, had led to widespread protests in a state that is widely considered safe for women.
On Tuesday Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta submitted that some relevant evidences have come up which need to be filed. Mehta said he would file them in two days.
A rejoinder to be filed in the case too.
