Justice Indu Malhotra who was sworn in today joins CJI bench replacing Justice A M Khanwilkar

With the joining of Indu Malhotra as the Supreme Court judge, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra bench also has been changed having Justice Malhotra as the member along with Justice D Y Chandrachud.

Justice Malhotra will replace Justice A M Khanwilkar in the CJI Bench.

Justice Malhotra who was sworn in today became the juniormost judge in the apex court. Justice Deepak Gupta precedes her.

It is pertinent to note that the CJI bench which was adjudicating matter related to the constitutional validity of Aadhaar comprised of Justices A K Sikri, A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud.

It is yet to be known whether the same CJI bench will adjudicate the Aadhaar matter or that bench will also be changed with Justice Malhotra replacing Justice Khanwilkar.

Justice Khanwilkar will be part of Justice Ranjan Gogoi’s bench which also comprises of Justice R Banumathi
