The Supreme Court bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and Justice D Y Chandrachud on Monday (November 27) dealing with the PIL regarding the cleanliness of the Kalkaji temple told Delhi Jal Board to complete the work and also directed that a competent authority to monitor the work and submit the report before it.

During the hearing, the petitioner submitted to the apex court that the status report along with the Fire department report has been already filed by it. “Why the devotees should suffer because of this tussle,” the petitioner submitted.

The Court listed the matter for next hearing to April 1, 2018.

On the early hearings, the apex court had appointed a committee to suggest steps to keep the temple and surroundings clean pursuant to the directions of the Court.

Some of the steps which were suggested that the DDA should maintain the nearby park and also see to the cleanliness of the toilets in the vicinity. There should be steps taken for setting up barricades, getting volunteers to keep the surroundings clean, etc.
