Missing girls’ case: Police submits incomplete report to SC bench

The Supreme Court bench of Justices J Chelameswar and Sanjay Kishan Kaul on Friday (February 16) found that the report submitted by the Shahada Police Station regarding several missing girls (of who three were found in brothels by the Rescue Foundation) fell short on details.

The police had not even given details of al the 12 girls, viz when did they lose custody of the girls, under what circumstances etc. the court directed the counsel for the police to file a fresh application containing full information. The current, incomplete application was to be withdrawn, said the court.

The case is about 9 girls who were missing, out of whom three were rescued from brothels. The High Court of Judicature at Bombay at Aurangabad and ordered on August 24, 2017 that the C.W.C. should deal with the cases of five girls who were convicted under Sections 110/117 of the Maharashtra Police Act and one girl, a domestic servant, who was not found involved in sexual activities, more expeditiously.

The bench had directed that the C.W.C. Nandurbar shall pass appropriate orders regarding their interim custody at the earliest.

The bench had also directed the Investigating Officer to produce these nine minor girls before the C.W.C. Nandurbar at the earliest.

By interim arrangement, bench permitted the parents of the girls accompanying them to be in custody with the girls under the supervision of Investigating Officers till the girls are produced before the C.W.C. Nandurbar and order regarding their interim custody is passed.
