Plea on retirement benefits for judges comes up for hearing in SC on April 18

The Supreme Court bench of Justices Ranjan Gogoi and Mohan M Shantanagoudar decided on Thursday (March 22) that it will take up the issue of retirement benefits of high court chief justices and judges on April 18. The appeal has been filed by Justice V S Dave, president of the Association of Retired judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts.

The appeal also includes judicial officers.

This matter has been kept for directions.

Today counsel Praveen H Parikh submitted before the court  that they have got information from all the high courts. The court said it has to fix a date when state counsels and other authorities are to be present.

After consultation with the amicus, the court fixed the date.
