The National Green Tribunal bench headed by its Acting Chairperson Justice U D Salvi on Monday (January 15) refused to change the earlier verdict of the bench regarding the closure of a poultry farm that a six-year-old had objected to and asked the owners to sell of the birds instead.

Hi-Tech Layer Farms, which had been shut down by the UP Pollution Control Board, had appealed to the NGT. The closure order had been passed in the case of Arjun Malik vs State of UP in which a six-year-old had filed an application, complaining about the pollution caused by the operation of poultry farms.

On Monday the appellant had filed the application for setting aside of the order passed by the bench. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) bench dismissed the appeal and asked the appellant to sell off the birds.
