Senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi appearing for the trustees of the Ryan International group contented how can people (trustees)  residing in Mumbai be responsible for a murder here?

At most they can be responsible for administrative lapses not murder, Rohatgi submitted to the Supreme Court bench of Justices A K Goel and U U Lalit on Wednesday (December 6), adding, “CBI has no such charge against them (trustees)”.

“The trustees can only be held liable for lapses on the part of administration, not for the henious crime like murder. The case is for Section 302 of the IPC,” contented Rohatgi.

The apex court was hearing a plea by Barun Chandra Thakur, father of deceased Pradyuman Thakur challenging the anticipatory bail granted by the Punjab & Haryana high court to the trustees  in the Pradyuman murder case.

Advocate Sushil Tekriwal appearing for Barun Chandra Thakur objected to the contentions of Rohatgi and sought cancellation of anticipatory bail.

The bench listed the matter for next hearing to December 11, 2016.
