Today, while hearing anticipatory bail plea of Rahul Raj Singh in the Pratyusha Banerjee suicide case, prosecutor said that early leads point to murder.
In reply, Bombay Police informed that they can only apply murder charges, after getting custody of him.
The prosecutor was able to provide several evidences, such as the location of her dupatta using which she allegedly committed suicide, and Rahul’s delay in calling neighbors after he found Pratyusha dead.

Meanwhile, the court granted anticipatory bail to Rahul, as they couldn’t locate any evidence which suggested that the accused ‘instigated or intended’ the suicide.
The Court also heard the last phone call between Rahul and Pratyusha. It was a 3-minute conversation, in which Pratyusha had hinted about suicide.
Justice Mrudula Bhatkar said, “There should be instigation or provocation to commit the act of abetment of suicide and the prosecution has failed to prove it.”
