The apex court on Monday (April 2) sought Centre’s response on the implementation of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014. The bench headed by Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri sought a reply in four weeks.

The bench gave the order on the plea filed by Telangana Congress MLC Pangulata Reddy. In the plea, Reddy has flagged concerns on the non-implementation of some of the provisions in the Act such as setting up of different high courts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, making ports and developing infrastructure.

The plea comes in the backdrop of recent Telugu Desam Party (TDP)’s demand seeking special status for Andhra Pradesh from the Centre. Two of the MPs of TDP had resigned from ruling NDA government in protest.
