“One must repose confidence in the choice of judges and the bar, and it shall not be questioned.” Chief Justice of India TS Thakur remarked while hearing a petition filed by M. Veerabhadraiah (vs. UOI) regarding designation of 16 senior advocates.
The bench of CJI and Justice UU Lalit stated that the petitioner was trying to pull down hard working young advocates designated as senior advocates while the petitioner argued that no definite rules and norms are in place to appoint senior advocates. He also argued that there has been no deliberation by the High Court.
The matter was dismissed as withdrawn, with the court granting liberty to file intervention in another pending matter WP(c) no 454/2015.
