The Supreme Court on January 5 directed Unitech to deposit Rs 40 lakh by the next date of hearing to the account of the petitioner, Ravi Kumar Rajoria, and said that no extension of the deadline would be granted.
The bench comprising of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud was apprised by the petitioner that he only has Rs 25 lakh as a bank draft but the remaining amount is Rs 1 crore.
The bench was hearing the petition relating to Section 23 of Consumer Protection Act, 1986.
The next hearing is on February 19.
