Three scientists win Nobel in Chemistry

American scientists Frances Arnold and George Smith and British researcher Gregory Winter have won the Nobel Chemistry Prize for harnessing the principles of evolution to develop proteins used to make everything from bio-fuels to pharmaceuticals, the jury said.

Arnold won one half of the nine million Swedish kronor (about $1.01 million or 870,000 euros) prize, while Smith and Winter shared the other half.
