Transgender’s application to be taken up by SC after Aadhaar judgment

A transgender, Satyashri Sharmila Rahemtali had filed a petition with the Supreme Court, saying that the Aadhaar card provided mentions “others” category in gender. The petitioner wants the correct category to be mentioned in the card.

The issue was heard on Monday (May 7) by the Supreme Court bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice A M Khanwilkar.

The bench decided that matter will be listed after the pronouncement of the judgment in the Aadhaar matter. The hearings on that are still on.
