The 22 opposition parties on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission (EC) urging that the verification of VVPAT slips of randomly discovered (5) polling stations should be undertaken beforehand to the initiation of tabulation of votes and not after the conclusion of final round of counting.
The parties further demanded that if any inconsistency is detected someplace during the VVPAT verification, 100 per cent tabulation of paper slips of VVPATs of all polling stations of that assembly segment should be done.
The opposition move came after a plea seeking verification of 100 per cent VVPATs slips with EVMs was rejected by Supreme Court today.
