Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud announced on Friday that all 13 Benches of the Supreme Court, which are currently functioning, will take up 10 bail petitions, as well as 10 transfer pleas each everyday, thus disposing of all transfer petitions before the start of Winter vacations.
As per the CJI, the decision was taken during a full court meeting. He said the Benches will be disposing of 130 transfer pleas per day and 650 per week, thus reducing the pendency by 3200 such petitions, which were related to family matters, at the end of five weeks.
Stating that bail petitions were a matter of personal liberty, the CJI stressed on expediting their hearing and announced that all Benches will hear 10 such matters everyday.
After clearing these cases, the Bench will start regular work, he added.
