The Allahabad High Court on Monday sought answers from Bahujan Samaj Party MP Atul Rai, accused of rape, for not presenting his report in Court after being investigated by the Circle Officer (CO).
The Court has sought an explanation from the SSP considering it a serious matter. The allegations against accused were investigated by Circle Officer Bhelupur on the direction of SSP Varanasi. It is alleged that this report was not sent to the Court after investigation.
A single bench of Justice Omprakash (VII) passed this order while hearing a Criminal Misc Bail Application filed by Atul Kumar Singh Alias Atul Kumar Rai.
During hearing, Petitioner lawyers told the Court that the plea of petitioner father has been investigated by CO Bhelupur on the direction of SSP Varanasi. After investigation, the CO gave its report to SSP Varanasi. But this report has not been sent to the Court yet.
Applicant lawyers say that according to the CO report, the petitioner has been implicated in a false trial by planning under a conspiracy. Meanwhile, the Court has directed to give a copy of the order to SSP Varanasi within 24 hours.
The Court will now hear the bail application on February 8.
