New Delhi (ILNS): The Allahabad High Court yesterday directed that a girl, held in the custody of her father and uncle, be freed and brought to court tomorrow.
The Court directed SSP Prayagraj to deploy Police for the protection of the detained Petitioner Sandhya Devi and directed the father and uncle not to pressurize the Petitioner to marry someone else. The court has also issued a notice to father Vandraprakash and uncle Satya Prakash, resident of Dhata Ghazipur of Fatehpur, to file their Statements.
This order has been given by Justice JJ Munir on the Petition of Sandhya Devi and others.
Petitioner says that she married Nitish Kesharwani on January 17, 2020 at Arya Samaj Temple, Prayagraj. The High Court directed the Police to provide Police protection to the Petitioners. Despite this, on February 25, 2020, Petitioner’s father took his daughter and banned her from going out of the house. The father wants her to marry someone else. Her husband Nitish Kesharwani complained to the SSP but no action was taken. On which this Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed.
