New Delhi (ILNS): The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has put an interim stay on the arrest of the two sons of jailed gangster and former MLA Mukhtar Ansari.
The high court, during the deliberations of the land dispute case, directed the duo — Abbas and Umar – to cooperate in the investigation.
Abbas and Omar are accused of an illegal construction by occupying government land. Lucknow’s Hazratganj police had registered an FIR against Mukhtar’s sons Abbas and Umar under sections 420, 423, 465, 467, 468, 471, 474, 477A, and 120B of IPC and had also declared a reward of Rs 25,000.
Thereafter, the sword of arrest was hanging on both. The duo was absconding since the FIR was registered. Jiyamau Lekhpal Surjan Lal had filed a case against Mukhtar Ansari and his sons Omar and Abbas at Hazratganj Kotwali for forgery, conspiracy, illegal possession of land.
In August, the Lucknow Development Authority demolished two “illegal buildings” registered in the name of jailed gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari’s family members in the posh Dalibagh locality of Lucknow.
Earlier, the High Court stayed the demolition of Mukhtar’s sister-in-law Farhat Ansari’s house in Dalibagh in Lucknow. On September 29, orders were issued by the VC of Lucknow Development Authority to demolish the house of Mukhtar’s sister-in-law. The LDA had cancelled the maps and permits of Farhat Ansari’s house as being against the rules.
Farhat challenged the order of LDA VC in the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court. The court, in its order, stopped the LDA from demolishing the house.
