A case related to Karti Chidambaram’s foreign deals, involving another company was being heard by the Supreme Court bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Mohan M Shantanagoudar. The case has been presented by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and is against Karti and Advantage Strategic Consulting (P) Ltd.
The ED has written to the CBI asking it to look into the share transactions of the company Karti had links with.
The transaction of shares is allegedly dubious and possibly motivated to get certain Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approvals by the misuse of official position (of Karti’s father P Chidambaram).
Advantage Strategic Consulting Pvt Ltd had sold more than 29,000 shares in Vasan Health Care Pvt Ltd to a Mauritius subsidiary in return for Rs 22,50,00,502 in 2010.
Apart from seeking a CBI probe, the agency has also provided a list of proofs including Karti’s emails to the officials of the company Advantage Strategic.
On Friday (January 12) the matter was tagged with the main matter. The bench directed ASG Tushar Mehta to file the reply before 25th January.
Matter will be taken up on January 29.
