On May 29, the Supreme Court bench of Justices AK Sikri and Deepak Gupta had heard the appeal of senior advocate Kapil Sibal for the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies saying that the May 31 deadline for destroying/removing all stock of liquor from Bihar was not possible. The bench had extended the deadline to July 31.
On June 6, senior advocate Salman Khurshid, also appearing for the confederation, submitted that he needed a clarification in the earlier order on two things. The first was the destruction of liquor in stock and the second was the export of the stock. The apex court had extended date till July 31 for destruction of liquor stocks and did not talk about export.
The bench has allowed this matter to be listed on June 7.
