Following climate activist Disha Ravi’s arrest in connection with the Greta Thunberg toolkit row, arrest warrants have been issued against activists Nikita Jacob and Shantanu. According to police, the duo was responsible for creating the Toolkit and faces charges which are non-bailable. The police said they were in direct contact with pro-Khalistani groups and worked closely with creators of the documents.
According to investigation, Poetic Justice Foundation had contacted activist-lawyer Nikita Jacob and asked her to organize a tweet storm ahead of Republic Day protest by farmers. Police have said PJF is a Khalistani group. As per another report, Jacob had edited the Toolkit document, which was shared by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg in support of the ongoing farmers’ protests. Jacob is currently absconding, the reports say.
According to Delhi Police Special Cell sources, a team had gone to Jacob’s house on February 11. She signed the documents saying she will join the investigation but went underground.
She has moved the Bombay High Court and has asked for interim protection against police action. The matter will be heard tomorrow.
The warrants against the two activists are out at a time when there is a widespread outrage over Disha Ravi’s arrest. Ravi was arrested by Delhi Police on Saturday in a hush-hush manner and several politicians and activists have come out in her support. Ravi, who said she had edited only two lines of the Toolkit, has been remanded in police custody for five days.
Police have claimed Ravi was a key conspirator in creation of the document and had shared it with Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. Ravi has denied being part of any conspiracy and said she did not create the document and edited only two lines of it.
